How We Celebrated Pongal
Pongal is a beautiful harvest festival that teaches children gratitude—towards nature, farmers, and the food we eat. In our play school in Anna Nagar, we introduced Pongal through a warm circle-time story, simple Tamil words, and festival-themed activities that children could enjoy with confidence.
Highlights of Our Pongal Day
- Traditional dress day (comfortable and child-friendly)
- Pongal story time + picture talk (age-wise)
- Kolam / rangoli art with safe, non-toxic materials
- Sugarcane & harvest theme learning corners (supervised)
- Music, movement, and festival songs
- Photo moments with classroom décor and props
What Children Learned
Celebrations are not only fun—they support development too. Our Pongal event strengthened language, confidence, creativity, and social bonding. Children practiced sharing, taking turns, and expressing their ideas—key skills for preschool readiness.
- Cultural awareness: understanding harvest and gratitude
- Language growth: new festival words, listening, and speaking
- Fine motor: kolam patterns, art, and craft activities
- Social-emotional: confidence in group participation
Safety & Comfort First
Every celebration at Time Kids Preschool Anna Nagar is planned with clear supervision, safe materials, and age-appropriate routines. We avoid anything that may be uncomfortable for children and focus on a calm, happy experience.
